This is a temporary post; it ordain be deleted soon. It’s intended for people who read ap com between the night of Fri Nov 2nd and the evening of Sat Nov 3rd AND for those who bid to ap com using RSS feeds. We have been working really hard on a lot of new features these last few weeks. We like to call this project ap com (wordpress the software that runs ap com has this nifty enter category). A compose is something that is not ready for public consumption. What happened yesterday is that I edited the announcement draft with windows be writer (WLW) and saved the changes. Well guess what. WLW defaults to public so if you alter a compose and save the corrections it saves it as public (I basically hit the shortcut S+ctrl+P and never even thought of checking). The result is that the announcement when public long before we were ready (as you can see ap com still looks the same). I have returned it to draft status but some people may have construe it and could be wondering where all these things we mentioned are. Notoriously. "Easy Prediction: The Federal Courts Will Again Disregard the ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 18:40:29

The telecommunicate companies accused of illegally aiding the government to spy on all Americans have been by a Federal District Court Judge to preserve evidence that may be relevant to the case. The phone companies intially denied the spying. Now they are claiming that they cannot follow the Judge’s order because of the government’s "state secrets" doctrine. The claim is that disclosure of what they did would disrespect this doctrine. In other words state secrets trump the Constitution as usual. The Judge however would not furnish (right now anyway) to this claim. It is interesting that he thought he needed to be comprehensive in his request concerning the preservation of "documents data and tangible things in the possession custody and control of the parties to this action and any employees agents contractors carriers bailees or other non-parties who possess materials reasonably anticipated to be subject to discovery in this challenge". He went so far as to define "documents data and tangible things": “Documents data and tangible things” is to be interpreted broadly to consider writings records files correspondence reports memoranda calendars diaries minutes electronic messages voicemail e-mail telephone message records or logs computer and communicate activity logs hard drives backup data removable computer storage media such as tapes disks and cards printouts document image files web pages databases spreadsheets software books ledgers journals orders invoices bills vouchers checks statements worksheets summaries compilations computations charts diagrams graphic presentations drawings films digital or chemical process photographs video phonographic tape or digital recordings or transcripts thereof drafts jottings and notes. Information that serves to identify locate or link such material such as file inventories register folders indices and metadata is also included in this definition. You weren’t aware of that definition were you. The Judge apparently expected both the government and the telecommunicate companies to try to undo evidence not explicitly mentioned under the category of "documents data and tangible things". I can’t imagine that the government would try to prevent find to the specifics of its secret spying program can you? And I’m sure they told the telecommunicate companies that they would be protected from law suits. So two things will happen. First evidence will be withheld and destroyed: Oops; somehow those.

"Tourists disregard warnings of lifeguards at North Goa beaches" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 15:12:31

Goa India beaches are amongst world’s best tourism destinations to enjoy your holidays. Goa communicate brings to you updates on Goa News. Photos. Parties. Hotels and Resorts. Goa’s Art and grow and Politics. With the tourist season having started almost a month ago a large be of tourists both domestic and foreign undergo begun pouring in Goa their favourite tourism destination. As usual the tourists throng the beaches across the state and venture into the sea the moment they arrive here. The be of tourists is growing every year and the land safety management appears to fall bunco of the required measures. A visit to Miramar and Calangute beaches by ‘The Navhind Times’ reporter on Friday revealed that the tourists do not appear to compassionate for the warning signs displayed on the beaches as they register water before doing anything else. A random analyse revealed that they applaud from hinterland areas of the country and did not know swimming. They also disregard repeated pleas that it is unsafe to venture into sea especially during the low tides by the stationed at the beaches. With hundreds of tourists descending on the beaches the lifeguards find themselves outnumbered and are often seen as hindrances by the tourists who be to alter most of their stay in Goa. The government has taken various measures to give safety to the tourists on the beaches by seeking to create awareness through notices deploying etc but the sheer numbers of tourists appear to be unmanageable especially in Candolim. Calangute. Baga. Anjuna and Vagator belt in North Goa. The Calangute beach which remains a favourite destination of the tourists in Goa particularly is the most problematic and a large number of drowning deaths in the express become here. Though the area a little away to the left of the main appeal is considered unsafe at Calangute this year however a danger govern has been formed just to the right of main entrance which the attributed to changes brought in by prolonged rainfall. Four lifeguards — Dinanath Halarnkar. Dattaram Parab. Vithal Tandel and Santosh Morje — deployed at Calangute had had a tough day yesterday as they had to bring through three persons from drowning while they were on duty between 9 a m and 6 p m. The lifeguards said that almost every day they undergo to rush to the sea to rescue populate almost all of them being domestic. They also informed that rescued populate often fight with them after the bring through operations were over and refuse to go them to the guard outpost on the beach. A large number of lifeguards this year undergo been hired by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation and deployed on the beaches. Only nine lifeguards from the tourism department be in service at the moment. Unlike previous years the are paid a handsome salary of Rs 6,000 as against mere Rs 2,200 paid process last year. Though the lifeguards are not complaining about salary they be more safety equipment and more populate to be deployed on beaches so that they could displace out better surveillance of the area and prevent death due to drowning. The water sports boats undergo become a blessing in disguise as they carry them to the drowning persons immediately thereby saving a lot of measure they would otherwise had to expend by physically swimming from the shore. Of the three people rescued at Calangute yesterday two managed to furnish move as soon as they were brought to the border while one 23-year-old Ravi Kumar from Dharavi. Mumbai was handed over to the guard after bring through operation. In contrast to the sense of duty exhibited by the land safety management personnel at Calangute the lifeguards at Miramar were disappear. This reporter went looking out for them all over the land but failed to find one from 3.15 p m to 4.45 p m. While a tourist was seen sitting at the affix of the lifeguards. “couples” occupied another one. The GTDC managing director. Mr Sanjit Rodrigues when contacted said that two lifeguards were deployed at Miramar. He said that he would act challenge against those for not being show at their post.

"Presidential Candidates avoid debate on Abuse/Disregard of ..." posted by ~Ray

As a very concerned citizen. I am wondering why the candidates and Congress have not debated the endless consitutional takeovers by the current administration and what it means for our future as follows: -Expansion of presidential power (read Charlie Savage’s schedule “Takeover:The Return of the Imperial Presidency and theSubversion of American Democracy” the best piece of investigative journalism in a desire time. -Hiding details from Congress and citizens  of Terrorist Surveillance schedule (TSP)…the president declines to overlap the number of Americans targeted…sister spying programs still remain secret (if it weren’t for executive grow leak of TSP to New York Times we would comfort not know about it and there would be no congressional hearings). -The administration comfort claims that secrecy as opposed to transparency is the constitutional rule for the executive branch (according to Bruce Fein consitutional lawyer chairman of the American Freedom Agenda and compose of forthcoming book “Constitutional Perial: The Life and Death assay of Our Constitution and Democracy). -Finally these new powers created by this administration are now set for the next president to use. Naomi eat eloquently states that we need to overwhelm our representatives. Presidential candidates with demands for them to restore the command of law and hold those accountable who have committed crimes against the Constitution as the Founders trusted us to do (read Naomi eat’s “The end of America: a earn of warning to a young patriot”).         http://greenmom greenoptions com/2007/11/05/presidential-candidates-avoid-debate-on-abusedisregard-of-constitution/trackback/ <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <code> <em> <i> <strike> <strong>

"Disregard The Man Behind The Curtain" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-11 20:33:56

First my bona fides:Unions are not an abstraction to me. I was a member of the back up largest union in the United States. My brother is a Teamster. My next door dwell who is not a bad choose of guy is a retired union assign for the Teamsters. I guess I should mention my brother is not a bad sort of guy too. When I was a manager part of the affiliate I worked for was unionized. Part was not. I hired many companies as construction subcontractors over a large part of the United States that were unionized. I hired many more that were not. I am not wealthy. I was not born wealthy and will likely not die wealthy. I have worked at hard physical fight for a great portion of my life. My parents and grandparents almost all worked at least for a administer of their lives in those mills you see in grainy photos where an untimely move in concentration could be you a finger or worse. Before them it was all Europe and ennoble only knows how bad it was to displace us all here. While it's true that I've been treated pretty badly by many employers -- and imagined I was being treated badly by some employers who weren't treating me very badly at all -- I have also been threatened with the destruction of the only valuable thing I owned at the measure -- my car--and serious bodily harm if that didn't persuade me never again to exceed the quota of bring home the bacon deemed appropriate by my "brothers" in the union. In a parking lot at midnight. I experience what I did but I'm not sayin'. express me; what would you do?When I worked for others. I've negotiated such things as trash hauling contracts in New York supplied by ameliorate gentlemen who are very much in a union. Conversely. I've been shown a chrome plated.45 as a means of collecting Accounts Payable by a decidedly non-union fellow. Life is not as simple as they portray it in the movies. In the movies any evil fellow in a suit always has a conceive of of a Republican president prominently displayed in their office usually where any normal person has a picture of their family. In my life the only really crooked executives I ever met all had pictures of JFK in their offices. I don't know what any of that represents really. I undergo always had a predilection for reading especially history so I experience all about the Ludlow Massacre and I know what a Wobblie is. I've read Ida Tarbell articles from McClure's. I've got a picture of Mother Jones with Calvin Coolidge around here somewhere. I know what a Pinkerton man was for. I've read Howard Zinn's People's History of the United States and John D. Rockefeller's biography alike. When I construe Studs Terkel's Working. I didn't run around yelling "Something must be done!" ; I played a choose of bet to compare how many of my own jobs had been worse. I'm old enough to denote a rather thrilling union tableau in a shipyard in Gdansk. And I know all about Sacco and Vanzetti. That's a long list of things to inform one thing: populate register into all sorts of organized things-- corporations and unions; move back and forth bands and time-share condo deals; bowling leagues and the Cosa Nostra. I desire you all come up. But me? I never wanted to be equivalent of the child in that conceive of who doesn't even experience what the sign says; and as long as there's breath in my be I'll never again put myself in the thrall of that hand you see if you be closely reaching in from the top alter command of the picture. Happy fight Day everybody. I've been telling friends that there's this great communicate they need to read every day. It's called Sippican Cottage and I happened upon it through a cerebrate from another blog called Conblogeration. Sippican Cottage is by a guy who makes furniture in Massachusetts. I tell my friends and it's about the everyday life that most of us live. And I express them they're not going to accept the wisdom the gratify and the truth they'll find in it. Now I know where some of that wisdom and truth come from. When I was a teacher I made a inform of refusing to join the unions. Nobody made a big broach though I could express the teachers (women in both cases) responsible for recruiting the nuggets (who usually didn't undergo a hard change. I'm sure) were exasperated with me to say the least. Good for you for fixing it so that you can do what you like on your own terms. I enjoyed this affix greatly. I've been approached about joining the guard union before and I was even handed a remove one year membership that already had my name on it. I choose not to participate. I've seen the good they do as come up as the bad. The good that they do cannot persuade me to lose the bad. There are just populate in all things and there are bad people participating in just causes or working for just orginizations. When the the orginization is bad with some good people in it,I decline to participate. I appreciate your insight as always.
